As a hospital among the first batch of national-level standardized western medicine residents training base & the cooperative unit of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, our hospital is a three-level Class A general hospital with improved functions, complete facilities, beautiful environment and advanced technology, which integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and rehabilitation. A. The hospital has five major departments receiving residents as trainees, including Orthopedics, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Emergency and Rehabilitation Medicine. Since 2014, the hospital began to recruit trainees composed of resident doctors, and more than 40 trainees have graduated successfully.

During the training period, the hospital developed the corresponding plan of departmental study in turns according to the professional needs of the trainees and their clinical experience differences, and implemented the “supervisor system”. The “Guidance Group for Standardized Residents Training” is set up in various departments of the hospital, with the director of the department or the deputy director of teaching as the group leader. The Department of Science and Teaching arranges a specially-assigned person to manage the daily affairs of and provide work guidance for the residents in each department. The Ministry of Science and Teaching actively organizes trainees to participate in professional lectures and academic conferences held inside and outside the hospital, and conducts assessment of different types on a regular basis.

Since resident doctors under training are not students, but on-the-job trainees, it’s reasonable for them to obtain relatively decent income. It’s required to regard them as trainees rather than free labor force. The hospital that doesn’t respect the labor provided by the medical staff will not attract excellent doctors. Hence, our hospital grants living allowance and housing subsidy to them every month. Also, our hospital gives them a meal card for free and meal allowance on a regular basis, so as to guarantee their daily life.
