Xi’an Honghui Hospital made the historical breakthrough in approval of NSFC project and the team of President Hao Dingjun received the funds for major project.

On August 16, NSFC announced the list of funding projects centrally received by NSFC in 2018. Xi’an Honghui Hospital made the historic breakthrough and obtained the funds for 6 projects, including: 1 major project, 1 general project and 4 youth projects.

The number of funded projects ranked first among 18 non-subordinate affiliated hospitals of the Faculty of Medicine of Xi'an Jiaotong University and the third among all 21 affiliated hospitals, only next to the two general hospitals directly affiliated to the National Health Commission, with a total funding of 4.38 million increased by 129.3% over the same period last year.

Among them, the team of President Hao Dingjun obtained the major project funding for its project “Research on Multi-targeted Therapy Based on SCI Dynamic Pathological Changes to Promote Spinal Cord Regeneration and Related Mechanisms” which was the only major project funded by NSFC for the Faculty of Medicine of Xi'an Jiaotong University in this year and made the historical breakthrough that no projects have been previously funded by NSFC for Shaanxi local hospitals (not including the hospitals directly affiliated to the National Health Commission and the army system hospitals).

The NSFC found is an important indicator to measure the strength of major universities and scientific research institutions, the most important source of scientific research funds for basic research and also an important reference for ranking of hospitals in the hospital ranking list.

As the major universities and scientific research institutions pay attention to and energetically develop the scientific research, the amount of funds is no longer the main battlefield for top universities and research institutions. Whether to receive the major project fund and how many major projects are obtained has become a key indicator for top universities and scientific research institutions.

The NSFC fund received by the team of President Hao Dingjun is a milestone in developing the scientific research work of Xi’an Honghui Hospital. It marks that Xi’an Honghui Hospital has reached a new level in scientific research strength under the correct guidance of Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission and the strong support of the Faculty of Medicine of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
