On October 28, under the support of Hip Preservation Working Group of Joint Surgery Working Committee of CMDA Orthopedist Branch and Hip Preservation Working Group of CARM Specialized Committee for Reparative and Reconstructive Surgery, the "First International Summit Forum of Xi'an Honghui Hospital for Hip Joint Preservation” organized by Joint Disease Hospital of Xi'an Honghui Hospital was held in Xi'an Honghui Hospital. Li Jun, Director of the Department of Rheumatism and Immunity, Joint Disease Hospital of Xi'an Honghui Hospital, presided over the meeting. Xu Peng, Vice President of the Honghui Hospital and President of the Joint Disease Hospital, delivered a welcome speech. Ma Jianbing, Director of Knee Joint Area of the Joint Disease Hospital, introduced the hospital.

Dr. Diego Collado and Dr. Morteza Kalhor, the main members of the Hip Preservation Surgery Team represented by Professor Ganz of the University of Bern, Switzerland, were specially invited to give special lectures. At the same time, Professor Chen Xiaodong from Xinhua Hospital affiliated to SJTU School of Medicine, the leading figure in the domestic hip-preservation field, Professor Zhang Hong and Professor Cheng Hui from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chinese PLA General Hospital (304) were invited to share experience. The Professor Ding Yong from Affiliated Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University and Professor Wang Wei from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University participated in the case discussion. Zhang Yumin, Director of the Hip Joint Area of Honghui Hospital Joint Disease Hospital, Hao Yangquan, Director of the Osteonecrosis and Joint Reconstruction Area, Zheng Jiang, Director of the Sports Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Center and Knee Ankle Area, and Jie Qiang, Director of the Child Orthopedics Diagnosis and Treatment Center, served as the host for special topic. More than 100 orthopedic surgeons from the Honghui Hospital Joint Disease Hospital, Sports Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Child Orthopedics Diagnosis and Treatment Center and other member hospitals of Shaanxi Medical Orthopaedics Group attended the meeting.

With the treatment of hip joint disease by PAO osteotomy and PFO technology as the theme and with focus on the hip-preservation treatment on hip joint diseases, the academic exchange was made in this seminar through theme speech and case discussion. It had two special topics, such as PAO research, related technology and development, PFO technology and combined surgical technique. The peers attending the seminar and experts invited made the interactive research and discussion on the key points of hip-preserving surgical technique, such as PAO osteotomy, PFO technique and combined surgery, prevention of surgical complications, advances in surgical techniques, and how to choose the right treatment plan for different types of hip joint diseases. In the case discussion, the young backbone physician from the Honghui Hospital Joint Disease Hospital, Sports Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Center and Child Orthopedics Diagnosis and Treatment Center shared the typical cases of PAO osteotomy in clinical applications and made discussions from preoperative preparation, different surgical approaches and postoperative effect evaluation etc. The on-site discussion was actively conducted and the academic atmosphere was strong. The participants said that they have gained a lot which will greatly benefit the clinical and scientific research work in the future.

Through the combination of viewpoints from the Chinese and foreign participants, this seminar provides the orthopaedic surgeon with different perspectives, new ideas and effective surgical plans in the treatment of hip joint diseases. At the same time, it also provides a very effective communication platform to promote the communications between the joint surgery circles at home and abroad, timely know the joint surgery trends and new technologies and promote the rapid development of joint surgery.
