Successful Ending of Forum for Orthopaedic Trauma of 2017 Silk Road Xi'an

September is a harvest season as well as a fruitful season. On September 8, “2017 Silk Road Xi'an International Orthopaedic Congress” was convened at Xi’an Qujiang International Conference Center. 35 top international orthopaedic experts and 179 famous domestic experts jointly participated in the Congress for giving lectures, which provided a wonderful international orthopaedic feast for domestic orthopedists. Moreover, nearly 2,000 orthopaedic fellows from all over China participated in the Congress.

The Congress was sponsored by Xi’an Medical Association and Xi’an Orthopaedic Association, and was organized by Honghui Hospital, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics, Chinese Journal of Trauma, Chinese Journal of Spine and Spinal Cord, Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, Chinese Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic Journal of China, and U.S. Chinese International Journal of Traumatology. Professor Hao Dingjun, Executive Chairman of the Congress and Director of Honghui Hospital, Xi’an Jiaotong University held the opening ceremony.

“Forum for Orthopaedic Trauma” was solemnly convened at the Conference Meeting from September 9 to the morning of September 10. Zhang Kun, Director of Orthopaedic Trauma Hospital, Xi’an Honghui Hospital, is the Chairman of the Forum; Zhuang Yan, Zhu Yangjun, and Li Zhong, Heads of above-mentioned hospital, are Vice Chairmen of the Forum; moreover, there were more than 300 personnel participating in the Forum, including overseas and domestic orthopaedic trauma fellows from large hospitals.

Director Zhang Kun hosted Opening Ceremony of the Forum, welcomed and thanked overseas and domestic experts and fellows participating in the Forum, made a brief introduction to traumatic orthopaedics field, and wished good development of traumatic orthopaedics. Overseas and domestic orthopaedic trauma experts gathered in the Forum for Orthopaedic Trauma. Professor Deng Xianghua, Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell University, the US made an introduction to research on sports medicine and delivered a keynote speech on “Research and Evaluation of Muscle Tendon, Ligamentous Injury and Recovery, and Chronic Tendon Injury”. Moreover, the latest progress enables everyone on site to have a new understanding of basic research on overseas and domestic sports injury. Utku Kandemir, Professor of UC San Francisco, the US, addressed an in-depth and keynote speech on overseas technical experience in “Fracture Dislocation of Tibial Plateau and Distal Femur Fracture”, which attracted people on site with warm applause.

Famous domestic orthopaedic experts: Professor Zeng Bingfang, the 6th People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Jiang Baoguo, Peking University People’s Hospital, Professor Liu Fan, Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, Professor Zhao Jinmin, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, Professor Liu Qiang, Shanxi Dayi Hospital, Professor Wu Xinbao, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Professor Yu Bin, Nanfang Hospital, Professor Fan Cunyi, the 6th People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Li Kainan, Affiliated Hospital & Clinical Medical College of Chengdu University, Professor Bi Zhenggang, Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, Professor Zhou Dongsheng, Shandong Provincial Hospital, Professor Sun Yuehua, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Professor Ji Fang, Shanghai Changhai Hospital, Professor Lv Gang, Xinjiang Chinese Medicine Hospital.

Provincial orthopaedic experts: Nearly 30 orthopaedic trauma experts, including Professor Qiu Yusheng, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Lv Gang, Xinjiang Chinese Medicine Hospital, Professor Li Jun, Tang Du Hospital, Professor Yuan Zhi, Xijing Hospital, Professor Shi Zhibin, the Second Affiliated Hospotal of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Zhang Kun, Professor Zhuang Yan, and Professor Zhu Yangjun from Xi’an Honghui Hospital, respectively delivered penetrating, in-depth, and splendid speeches on reconstruction of pelvic and acetabular fracture for complex extremity fracture, minimally invasive technology of orthopaedic trauma, digital orthopaedic technology, senile fracture, phased treatment of damage control, and therapeutic treatment of bone infection. Wang Pengfei, Attending Physician of Orthopaedic Trauma Hospital, Honghui Hospital and Song Ze, Associated Chief Physician of above-mentioned hospital accurately translated English speech and communication contents and provided communication and exchange services on the Forum.

Wang Hao, Wen Shiming, Jiao Ning, Xue Hanzhong, and Wei Wei, Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the Forum and Professors of Orthopaedic Trauma Hospital, Honghui Hospital jointly issued certificates of appreciation to experts. Finally, Zhang Kun, Chairman of the Forum and Director of Orthopaedic Trauma Hospital, made a summary of the Forum for Orthopaedic Trauma and expressed his sincere gratitude to experts, colleagues, and backstage staff participating in the Congress.

There were lots of participants at the Conference Center with all seats being occupied. Moreover, some of participants even stood up for listening to speeches. All of them cherished the opportunity to listen to speeches, carefully listened to experience shared by experts and actively participated in interaction with strong academic atmosphere.

Physicians participating in the Congress expressed that they had gained a lot and expected that Honghui Hospital could continue to convene similar academic conferences. Close contact between overseas and domestic large hospitals were greatly strengthened through the Congress, which provided an important platform for development and exchange of orthopaedic trauma.
